At start-up of a GNOME session, I get the error-dialog:
Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
followed, by another error dialog, that says
There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.
Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work
correctly.
The Settings Daemon restarted too many times.
The last error message was:
System exception: IDL:Bonobo/GeneralError:1.0 : Child process did not
give an error message, unknown failure occurred
GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log
in.
Now, if I do not mess around with any of the keyboard settings in GNOME,
neither of these messages appears. I tried to apply the fixes from bug
#358868: `libxklavier10: Patch for xorg 7.0' (hence the NMU version),
but that didn't fix it.
As requested by the above error dialog, I give the out put of the two
commands.

Now, it doesn't mess up the rest of the desktop, but I can no longer
switch the keyboard layout.
I'm not sure this is the right package to file the bug against, so
please excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong.
