Thanks for the ping, I certainly did miss the initial message, since
I'm not listed as maintainer and didn't get sent an email
automatically.

So I had plans to upload to unstable, but then noticed that the new
upstream maintainer (in copy) changed the SOVERSION. I don't know if
there's an actual break in ABI or it was just to set it and be the
same as the version of the library, but in fact this will cause a
transition, so it's what stopped me from uploading to unstable.

I think that I asked Frank about this but didn't get a reply yet, I
know that he's been busy with misc things.

I suppose that we can either upload to unstable and request a
transition slot, and everything will be fine, or check that the ABI
didn't change and patch to keep the old SOVERSION.

Would you like to help with that? I've been kept busy and without a
continous stretch of time to review and deal with the issue properly,
also because of other Debian duties, so I'm not sure when I'll be able
to deal with that.

I don't know why it's so buried in github, but Richard was not
interested in being the main maintainer and as discussed in
https://github.com/ulrichard/ftgl/pull/9#issuecomment-428309601 the
de-facto maintainer is now Frank.

Also from https://github.com/ulrichard/ftgl/ main page/README:

  ftgl is currently hosted at:
  https://github.com/frankheckenbach/ftgl
  Current maintainer:
  Frank Heckenbach <f.heckenb...@fh-soft.de>

Cheers.
