I agree that those symbols file can be a real nuisance. I try to maintain these to be sure that there is no ABI change for new upstream versions. If I remember correctly it also happened in the oast with one of the libbpp libraries changed symbols which was not reflected in a SOVERSION bump. I'm not sure whether we can implement better means to ensure proper SOVERSION - if yes I'm fine with droping the symbols files. Kind regards Andreas. -- http://fam-tille.de
