Package: nvidia-driver
Version: 430.40-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
I upgraded the nvidia-driver package (version 418) to the newer version
430.40-2
* What was the outcome of this action?
Every time I boot my computer with the NVIDIA driver version 430
installed, I end up in an infinite loop between the tty and Xorg starting and
instantly crashing. Switching ttys does not seem to work.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
I tried rebooting with an older kernel to reinstall the driver, which did
not work. I also tried unplugging my second monitor and deleting the xorg.conf
file. This didn't help either. I have resorted to using the legacy 390 driver
for now.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I expected my system to boot normally after the upgrade.
I use a GTX 1050 Ti with a dual-monitor setup, one monitor using DVI and one
using HDMI. The Xorg log can be found here: https://paste.debian.net/1098761/
