In my case it hangs even if udev *is* running. > This is due to your call to udevsettle in the init-script. That call in the initscript should use --timeout=seconds parameter. > I set the severity to serious because this currently breaks (or better > hangs) the installation of lirc 0.8.0-4 on all non-udev systems. I'm running Linux 2.6.16.20 with udev, and when I boot the system and it hangs in udevsettle. The only way to make it continue is plugging/unplugging something as a usb disk. then udevsettle returns and initscript continues. This results in a machine beeing unaccessible upon remote (re)boot. Which is not nice if you're far away from it. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16.20 Locale: LANG=es_ES.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=es_ES.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to es_ES.UTF-8) Versions of packages lirc depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.1 Debian configuration management sy ii dialog 1.0-20060221-1 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe ii libasound2 1.0.11-7 ALSA library ii libc6 2.3.6-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii liblircclient0 0.8.0-4 LIRC client library ii libusb-0.1-4 2:0.1.12-2 userspace USB programming library lirc recommends no packages. -- debconf information: lirc/take_care_of_old_config: * lirc/install_devices: true * lirc/reconfigure: false lirc/lircmd_conf: lirc/remove_var-log-lircd: true lirc/driver: pinsys lirc/should-use-IntelliMouse: lirc/cflags: -DLIRC_SERIAL_SOFTCARRIER lirc/irq: none lirc/lircd_conf: pinnacle_systems/lircd.conf.pctv lirc/port: none lirc/device: /dev/ttyS1 lirc/timer: 65536 lirc/modules: -- Kiko Private mail is preferred encrypted: http://www.pirispons.net/pgpkey.html
