Of course the latest and greatest if always better, but that's incompatible with a stable release. We just have to cut it at some point. While that's true, in this case I'm mostly concerned about all the bugfixes that happened in the meantime. In any case, would you be interested in helping maintaining this package? I don't have much time for that these days.
