I think I may have misread what was said in the past. I thought the earlier NMU was disabling one of the specific memory-related tests that was crashing, not all tests. I'm fairly uneasy with disabling them all, if that's what we're currently doing. I'll plan to take a look and/or talk to upstream soon, though I might not get to it in depth until the weekend.
