I cannot reproduce these messages in a normal install, but I think I know their reason and they should only be cosmetic. > udevd fails to start and I get a static /dev with some other warnings You should find out why it's not working. Try strace, raising the verbosity in udev.conf, etc. > (iirc /dev/shm being ro) /dev/shm should have been mounted anyway even if udev could not be started for some reason, this may be a bug in initscripts. -- ciao, Marco
