Firstly, if you've downgraded to 0.93-1, run "update-initramfs -u". This will regenerate the initramfs.
I can confirm this problem. As udev is loaded as part of the initrd/initramfs, it's not possible to strace the failure. Downgrading to 0.93-1 (and regenerating the initramfs) allows a normal boot.
