Package: mlterm
Version: 3.9.3-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

mlterm currently build-depends on canna to build "Canna input method
plugin". Canna is rc-buggy, it breaks on
-Werror=implicit-function-declaration (see #1066375 ).

I had a look at the bug and it is non-trivial to fix. (I spent some
effort, but gave up.) So I am wondering whether it would not make sense
to stop building the mlterm canna input method plugin:
* Canna is very dead upstream, 3.7p3 was uploaded to Debian in 2004.
* Canna is also orphaned in Debian, the last maintainer upload happened
  in 2007.
* Canna has only 28 popcon installations.

I am using mlterm but I do not speak or write Japanese so I really have
no idea how useful/popular the different Japanese input methods are.
However I can see that freewnn and canna are both very much dead
upstream and have been orphaned for a very long time.

cu Andreas
