I tried to generate a new deb file from source package, and it works :
$ sudo apt purge mailfromd
$ cd mailfromd-9.0/
$ dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b
$ sudo dpkg -i ../mailfromd_9.0-1_amd64.deb
$ /usr/svbin/mailfromd -V
mailfromd (mailfromd) 9.0
