Hi,
The maintainer is currently out on vacation and has claimed the bug
ownership. Can do it next week but if you want to feel free to NMU.

Nowadays avrdude supports both the libusb 0.1 and libusb 1.0. It is
autodetected at configure time, so it's just a matter of changing the
build dependencies:

Thanks for the patch, Aurelien.
What is stopping us from uploading of a fixed version of the package? Would
an NMU be appropriate?
No sure what is blocking, it seems the maintainer is not active. An NMU
is definitely acceptable for this kind of change.
Packages arduino and octave-arduino are scheduled to be removed from testing
on January 14 due to this bug.
I can prepare an NMU and upload it to delayed, or tell me if you prefer
to do it.

Aurelien
