Mathias, these flags were added to the xsimd build to avoid accessing
the NEON code path on armhf, which is still an issue

If -mfpu=vfpv3 is not constructive to use now, can you advise on the
right flag for switching off neon? Is it
-cpu neon=off
according to the GCC man page, this should be then -march=armv7-a+fp, or
use the alias -march=armv7-a+vfpv3-d16. No other fpu or float-abi flags.
