Important note: After more testing, this failure happens randomly
(not always), but the failure rate I get here is:

90% on machines with 1 CPU
25% on machines with 2 CPUs.

In cases like this one, I recommend GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nr_cpus=1" to reproduce.
If that does not work, I can offer a VM, as always.
