Those lines just report some test suite failures, please be sure to
include the actual failures (a few line above that) in your bug reports.

> Given that m68k failed the same way

It did not. m68k failed for reasons I don't know, but it failed in the
tests 8 and 9, which have nothing to do with the tests that failed
here. Also, m68k was able to build libgtk2-perl 1:1.140-1 (which I've
only seen now).

> I suspect that some build-depends got updated and broke something

Please look at the actual problem:

t/GdkPixbuf........................Image type 'jpeg' is not supported at
t/GdkPixbuf.t line 467.
# Looks like you planned 101 tests but only ran 98.
# Looks like your test died just after 98.
dubious
        Test returned status 255 (wstat 65280, 0xff00)
DIED. FAILED tests 99-101
        Failed 3/101 tests, 97.03% okay

So it looks like the jpeg pixbuf loader is not available. If that is the
case, your libgtk2.0-0 installation is broken, as the jpeg pixbuf loader
is included there. Check /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders, it should
report a loader for the jpeg image type.

Anyway, I was not able to reproduce this bug on an up-to-date etch
system and m68k finally built the package, so none of the two problems
that were discussed in this bug report are actually relevant
(anymore). Closing.
