I've just rebuilt it in a sid chroot with both debuild and dpkg-buildpackage and it builds fine from clean source. It also builds fine in a clean etch chroot with both debuild and dpkg-buildpackage. All of this is on i386, but with the hppa confirmation as well, this is probably not an RC bug. I suggest downgrading or closing it.
