Facing the same problem as reported earlier in above bug report,
gnome-panel crashes after adding xpenguins-applet 2.1.1-3.1 on
gnome-panel 2.14.3. I am working with debian 4.0 stable.

This problem was faced by me earlier in Fedora Core 5 as well.

The earlier report goes "When killing the X server and logging in again,
the panel is afterwards not usable and can be recovered only by killing
the xpenguins-applet." For me, the problem is more serious, I have to
delete the entire panel and start with a fresh one. xpenguins by itself
works fine.

Given that this problem is happening with debian 4.0 stable, it should
not be treated as closed.
