Package: debian-installer
Severity: normal
ia64 isos should be bootable via this path from the EFI Boot Manager:
Boot Option Maintenace Menu
-> Boot from a File
-> Debian Inst [Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|0)/Ata(Primary,Master)/CDROM(
I believe the magic for this is the bootia64.efi file, which is just a renamed
elilo.efi. Here's what the boot image on a working CD looks like.
[ You can download a copy of this ISO here (the HP Enablement Kit):
http://www.hp.com/hps/linux/lx_debian_download.html ]
/efi
/efi/boot
/efi/boot/linux.bin
/efi/boot/root.bin
/efi/boot/elilo.conf

/efi/boot/general.msg
/efi/boot/factory.msg

/efi/boot/bootia64.efi
/elilo.conf
/elilo.efi
>From looking at a SuSE CD, I believe the top level elilo.conf & elilo.efi
files are redundant. In this example, the linux.bin file and the root.bin
file are the kernel & initrd, respectively. The elilo.conf looks like this:
# elilo config file for Linux Install & Recovery Kit CD

Though I think this is truly a debian-installer bug (the boot image on
the cd is created by the d-i build system not debian-cd), it vanished
a long time ago - even before sarge.
I don't remember what exactly fixed it.
