Hi Yan, Zheng, I don't use debian so I don't know what it exactly is. the adsl-setup in mandrake is part of rp-pppoe (Roaring Pengiune PPPoE), which fills system with various scripts, they call each other here and there.
I use a scheme that involves two configuration files: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0 /etc/ppp/peer/eth0 ppp0(pppoe) is on the eth0. So no need for extra scripts. That is much cleaner.
