重编译内核的问题，kernel panic

各位好：

    我的机器现在装的是debian-amd64，kernel-image-2.6.8-11-em64t-p4。下载了2.
6.13和2.6.12的内核重新编译，编译过程没有出错，但是重起时，两个内核都不能启
动。错误信息如下：
modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.12/modules.dep: No such
file or diretory

mount: mount point dev does not exist
pivot_root: No such file or directory
/sbin/init: 432: cannot open dev/console: No such file
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

    这是什么原因？
