Debian里头的ibus拼音输入法有点太 旧了

Debian里头的ibus拼音输入法有点太旧了，ibus官方的最新发布版是2010年06月 12日的1.3.5 stable 如果需要这个输入法，我是应该向ibus的维护者们提出申请，请求更新一下deb的 源？还是申请加入ibus的维护中来？或者只能自己自行编译安 装它呢？ 
请指教！
