So far the security updates for the Jessie kernel have stayed in the 3.16.*

Try apt-cache policy linux-image-4.9-amd64

I'm fine with knowing that the 3.16 kernel is getting security updates and will probably keep using it, but I checked the server and found:

linux-image-4.9-amd64/oldstable 4.9+80+deb9u6~deb8u1 amd64

This kernel is newer than what I have on Stretch at home, but I don't update very often. So it looks like the "Debian LTS team" is doing a good job providing Jessie with security updates.

Thanks again,
