I'm a bit confused by this. i've always thought ranking options you consider bad enough that you'd rather have another option to work with people and discuss the options than see that option pass. I think by ranking FD above something you dislike, you should commit to actively participate in a discussion if FD wins. However, "I think this option is unacceptable, and so I'd rather discuss more than decide it," seems like an entirely reasonable use of FD, not something terrible at all.
