Capsicum is also the chemical that tastes "hot".

As far as nominating types of peppers goes, I'd nominat 
the chipotle: it has better flavor, while being spicy too.

Haba?eros and jalape?os are just too sharp: the chile (or
bell pepper aka capsicum) needs to be roasted to bring out
its flavor.
