Since irc.debian.org now points at irc.oftc.net, you will find that the #debian-custom channel no longer exists on the old network, irc.freenode.net. If you try to join there, you will be dumped into ##unavailable. Please adjust your irc client configuration to point at the channel on irc.debian.org.
