wget doea't work for me, if there's a robots.txt file on the mirror server disallowing all user agents to follow links (in / or /debian/ sub dir). In that case only the index files are fetched. I'm not quite sure, though, cause you set ftp.us.debian.org as default and seem to be able to fetch all files. (ftp.us.debian.org is configured to not allow recursive fetching).
