Hello, I think it would be nice that Desktop dir was $HOME. When you download something or save a file, *A LOT* of programs open the "Save" dialog pointing to $HOME. If you save things in this default location, you loose "visibility" of files. From a desktop user point of view, the default location to save files should be a naturally visible place: the Desktop.
Having this duality $HOME, $HOME/Destop provocates that if you save things in Desktop, you loose "visibility" when you open a file manager, which usually starts at $HOME and not at $HOME/Destop. Regards, Cesar
