Im really interested in this idea. Im extremely comfortable with Ubuntu and would really like to use YAST. How can I help out? I don't know programming. Maybe I can help in documentation, testing, and translate to French. I hope that using Ubuntu won't cause a problem. If you think it does, which Debian do you suggest I install?
You can be a huge help by:
1. Read the FAQ on our website http://yast4debian.alioth.debian.org/ It tells you how to set up an apt source for our packages.
2. install all the packages.
3. install the debian-policy package. That's the Debian (and for the
most part Ubuntu) policy manual. Read it thoroughly.4. Report all the ways the packages violate policy to me so I can fix them.
You can use Debian Sarge or Kubuntu Hoary. Though atm, I'm only developing on Sarge, I do plan on making packages for Kubuntu soon.
