Recently there was a Slashdot article linking to a discussion among senior kernel developers (includng Linus) in which the conclusion was that for much better desktop performance, disks should be mounted -noatime (://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/08/08/1810243)
In the discussion, it was pointed out that Ubuntu now does this when installing. I have modified my /etc/fstab and there is a noticeable performance improvement. Is it possible for Debian desktop to change /etc/fstab when desktop is selected, or to make this an option asked of the user when the Desktop task is selected? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
