I guess so, according to popcon, thats just under 7% (people with
libdbus installed but not the daemon). Of course, one could probably
argue that people not running dbus are probably people that don't run
graphical apps as root, and are certainly people that are highly
unlikely to use a graphical su/sudo utility...
Btw, in terms of resource usage, there's a lot of embedded (and heavily
memory constrained) devices out there running dbus, so I do wonder what
reasons people have to not want a modern IPC system.
At the end of the day, PolicyKit is about security. Is it more important
to support people who wish to open up root security holes on their
systems by running graphical apps as root, or is it more important to
give everyone better security by not forcing them to run graphical apps
as root?
