The eepro100.c file had a line in it (grep gcc eepro100.c) which said how to compile it (given /usr/include/linux for a kernel of proper version) without touching anything else. Note that I needed this to install the important and standard debian packages. Some kind of optional driver set wouldn't have been very useful to me.
