I've seen too many arguments on this subject. My 2 c as a Debian user / reader of Debian lists is that perhaps the CoC should be softened to say eg, "Note that it is considered best practice on Debian mailing lists to use the reply-to-list function of your email program, and to not cc someone who appears to be subscribed (unless they request otherwise)."
