Apparently cp -s needs absolute paths. Yet dh_make tries to use it relative paths (called from Debian dpkg-buildpackage version 1.15.8.10ubuntu1). Quoting relevant log below:

# Copy only the driver source to the proper location
cp -s driver/* debian/XXX-source/usr/src/modules/XXX
cp: `debian/XXX-source/usr/src/modules/s2226/XXX.ko': can make relative symbolic links only in current directory

Has this been fixed in upstream? Is there a work around?
