An academic librarian friend of mine has been working with the various departments at his institution to start producing and archiving virtual machine images preconfigured for running the software used to generate results corresponding to various publications, so that they can later be cloned, booted and results reverified in the original environments and conditions. Admittedly this means lots of additional storage, but it does offer an easy way out of that particular dilemma (assuming the bitrot isn't so bad that nobody can find virtualization software capable of booting them successfully in the future). -- { PGP( 48F9961143495829 ); FINGER( fu...@cthulhu.yuggoth.org ); WWW( http://fungi.yuggoth.org/ ); IRC( fu...@irc.yuggoth.org#ccl ); WHOIS( STANL3-ARIN ); MUD( kin...@katarsis.mudpy.org:6669 ); } -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-devel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
