Moreover, also IMHO, IRC is very light, logs are in plain text which can be easily parsed. You can have very light clients (terminal, emacs etc.). You can also keep a session open if you have a small SOC/board around (screen tmux are her for that) without BNC/ZNC honeypot things. No need for those fancy, bloated, full of javascript modern things blinking like a Christmas tree. Let's keep all the thing FOSS, KISS, lightweight and solid as a rock.
