The person coining both these terms were me, during a sprint that
Andreas Tille and Holger Levsen also attended.  As far as I can see,
Holger Levsen was the first to mention it it digitally¹, and Andreas
Tille created the wiki page² for it.  Both Holger and Andreas had
preferred a single term, where I insisted there be a distinction
between purely Debian-based compositions and what is nowadays more
commonly known as Debian Derivative.

Their recuctance towards the "Pure" variant explains why initial edits
of the wiki page does not clearly distinguish between the two related
concepts.  It was a discussion between Holger, Andreas and me at that
sprint that I was referring to in my second post in this thread:

OK! Sorry for bringing back the topic and resurrecting a (very old)
argument. But given we are now settling the “deblob” issue, we are free to
biting our own tail with other naming issues again 😃
