It's "Changes" and yes I have read it:
master:/home/wind# pppd -v
pppd: unrecognized option '-v'
pppd version 2.3 patch level 5
The issue being that there IS a problem - e.g. are we going to provide
ppp1 and ppp2? That sounds like trouble to me.
