I think we should just get rid of the `vi' link and `vi' emulation in ae, stick to the default setup, and have that catchall script just print a message saying to use `ae' rather than `vi' while using the rescue/setup disks.
Perhaps a larger ramdisk image could be built and provided for rescue times, with `elvis-tiny' or somesuch on it?
