Package: release-notes Severity: normal It seems I was not quite successful in removing these packages before the upgrade. VLC, M Player and dvdbackup all have problems playing most AVI files (VLC only) and accessing DVDs (all programmes), so it seems I have some wring libraries still installed. I would like to know how you can identify packages from outside sources
1. before taking any other steps 2. once you have commented out or removed the outside sources from /etc/apt/sources.list 3. left polluting the system after the upgrade (my situation) -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24.4 (SMP w/1 CPU core; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
