I think apt-ftparchive is right tool but this documentation is to blame. The apt-ftparchive command is used in our archive as I understand. All other tools are for convienience tools for regular users and YMMV. I have updated usage guide for apt-fetarchive in Debian reference: http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch02.en.html#_small_public_package_archive At least apt-fetarchive is available on developer machine such as people.debian.org: os...@ravel:~$ type apt-ftparchive apt-ftparchive is /usr/bin/apt-ftparchive os...@ravel:~$ type reprepro -bash: type: reprepro: not found > [1] > http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/repository-howto/repository-howto.en.html#pools I marked all obsoleted documents to show their title with: (Obsolete Documentation) I hope this helps these people coming to these pages via google without seeing our main web pages.
