I guess the best way to get this going would be if you could point out one specific issue with one of our (many!) documents, and suggest a concrete fix for that. If I have time I might be able to help you in your way getting this fix implemented. There's also the Debian Mentors project + mailing list (https://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/) where help in getting started is offered.
