In which conditions would you want that? If the binary supports
daemonization we can only get the exit code if it exits before the
daemonization. If it does not support daemonization and we are using
s-s-d's background option then we can only get the exit code if we
keep the parent s-s-d running and waiting for the child, and then
I don't understand why we would want to use the background option.

Could you clarify?
