That's not currently the case, dpkg will bail out when parsing the
control file from a package, the same when updating the available file
from external files, so it should not end up with a broken one.
I've added now a new minimal test-case to the dpkg package suite:

It could be that this arises from another situation, it would be
helpful then to reopen this bug report and describe the conditions that
led to the broken available file.
