I'm pretty sure, these segfaults are caused by LANG and/or LC_ALL. Please try if the errors persist after "unset LANG LC_ALL" (well, some Perl and dpkg expert should fix this problem anyway, it keeps coming - unfortunately I'm neither a Perl nor a dpkg (interna) expert) Ulf
