severity 32608 fixed
thanks

This is not a bug in dpkg, but bad coding in the daemon. There are
some things a daemon should do on startup, such as doing chdir
to a directory like /, closing unused filehandles, etc. It is not
the place of dpkg to work around errors in other programs, so I
am setting this bugreport to fixed so iwj can close it.

Wichert.
