Well, I guess from a practical point of view, it would be good if the Debian version was command-line compatible to the (new) TeXinfo one. I suppose that most people use the TeXinfo version, and thus not only the Emacs installation process will depend on the TeXinfo command line arguments. kai -- because I couldn't think of a good beginning.
