How much memory does dpkg require to install a package ? I tried to work it out for myself using dmalloc but ran into problems. I compiled dpkg against dmalloc and set the environment variable (to check almost everything), but when i ran dpkg its memory usage spiraled upwards (above 200MB) until the process was terminated.
Has anyone succesfully used dpkg with dmalloc, if so what dmalloc options did you use ? Thanks Glenn
