Package: dpkg Version: 1.10.4 Severity: wishlist I sometimes have the problem, that I want to install a recent version of a program, but there is no debian-package available at this time. So I install a tar.gz and the files will be placed in /usr/local... When later there is a debian-package available the same files will be placed in /usr... but the files in /usr/local... are still there and can produce problems when the PATH variable is set appropriate. Additionally disk space is wasted when the files remain in /usr/local... An option to activate this feature would be nice.
