| 1. Are you a debian developer ?
~ Yes, though not a particularly active one (hopefully that will be changing:-).
| 2. If no, would you like to become a developer in order to | maintain some packages ?
~ N/A
| 3. Do you have packaging skills/experience ?
~ Dated, but it shouldn't be hard to pick up again.
| 4. If you're a Debian developer, are you willing to sponsor | people who packages educational software ?
~ Sure, but first I'd like to get my own act together.
| 5. Are you willing to write/translate documentation for educational | software ?
~ Yes.
| 6. What area in the big educational landscape are of special interest | for you (math, physics, biology, languages, etc.) ?
~ General. I'm a former teacher, professor, and technology coordinator and, like many others here, I too am sick of seeing schools waste money on software that should be going to other higher priorities.
| 7. Freetyle question. What else would you like to do within DebianEdu ? | What do you expect from DebianEdu ?
~ I'm not sure where the line crosses between DebianJR and DebianEdu. But for DebianEdu, I'd like to see something of a customized Debian distro aimed straight at schools.
~ This could be done with appropriate packages files. I think a lot of choices would have to be cut out to make DebianEdu sane for school users. For example, choosing between the many MTAs in Debian is confusing to many; while choice is nice (that's one reason I use Debian:-), too many choices is chaotic.
~ I think DebianEdu packages should be integrated; for example, various packages set up to automatically use an LDAP and/or NIS. And, of course, lots of additional educational/edutainment goodies would need to be packaged. This is just some babbling off the top of my head -- and yes, I know how much work I just spit out in the course of a short paragraph. :-)
