i recommendet to him to tune his ldap server a bit. the single best results are optainable by adding these three line to slapd.conf: sizelimit 1000 cachesize 5000 dbcachesize 5000000 (for about 1000 entries alltogether in your ldap directory). this was added to default configuration today, too.
